Swift School of Pharmacy, Rajpura had organized a Guest lecture by Mr Amit Nasa (M.Pharm, PDCR), Senior Research Scientist, Medical Affairs & Clinical Research, Ranbaxy. Mr Nasa enlightened the students on the topic "Scope of Clinical Research”. Dr G.Munjal, President (SFRES), Dr.V.J.Dhar, Director (Swift School of Pharmacy) and Faculty members also attended the lecture. |
| Guest Lecture by Prof V.K.Kapoor (Feburary 2010) |
 Swift School of Pharmacy, Rajpura had organized a Guest lecture by Prof. V.K.Kapoor, Ex-Chairman, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala for students of B.Pharmacy on February 19, 2010 .Prof. V.K.Kapoor enlightened the students on the topic "Basics of Organic Chemistry" and elaborated the audience that how Organic chemistry act as a backbone of Pharmacy field. Furthermore he detailed the students about the Introduction, History and Scope of Stereochemistry with the help of models. Dr.V.J.Dhar, Director, Swift School of Pharmacy and Faculty also attended the lecture. It was an interactive session as students get their all the quires resolved by the eminent Professor. |

Swift School of Pharmacy, Rajpura had organized a Guest lecture by Prof. S.L.Nasa, Registrar, Delhi Pharmacy Council for B.Pharmacy IInd Sem. students on April 28, 2009 .Prof. S.L.Nasa enlightened the students on the topic "Career in Pharmacy" and emphasized that Pharmacy profession is a selfless profession with wide horizons.

| Visit by Dr. N.K Jain - March 2009 |

Prof. N.K.Jain, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr.H.S.Gour University, Sagar (MP) had an interactive session with B.Pharmacy Ist year students at Swift School of Pharmacy on March 4, 2009.While interacting with the students Prof.Jain emphasized that students should have a definite goal in their life and should try their level best to achieve that goal. He also stressed over the hard work as hard work is the only key to success. Students also raised a number of quires during the session, which Prof.Jain answered to their level of satisfaction.

| UDAY-2008(The Rising Sun) |
 The first fresher party, Uday-2008, was organized at Swift School of Pharmacy, Rajpura. Dr. G. Munjal, President of the society inaugurated the function. The programme started with the Sholok and Shabaad Gayan. The students showed great enthusiasm and enthralled the audience with their mind blowing performance which included Bhangra, Skits, and Solo Songs etc. Dr.G.Munjal distributed the prizes to the winners, Mr. Hitesh Kumar was selected as Mr. Fresher and Ms. Shivani as Ms. Fresher. Later he also announced a hundred percent scholarship to the student who will come among the first ten merit holders in the University exam. Dr. V. J. Dhar, Director of the college also shared his views on this occasion. |

| INDUSTRIAL TOUR |

As a part of academic pursuit and our commitment to provide best possible education to our students, an industrial visit of B. Pharmacy first Semester students was organized to Ind- Swift(GBMU),Derabassi and Ind- Swift Ltd(R&D), Mohali on 7th October,2008. The group consisted of 35 members including students and faculty. The transport facility was arranged by the institute.
The students got an opportunity to go through the State-of-Art facilities at both the units. The officer in charge at the units gave a brief presentation about the major equipments used in the plants like HPLC, LCMSMS, Rapid Mixture Granulator, Fluid Bed Drier, Rota evaporator, Gas chromatography, Stability chambers etc.In the R&D unit the students got an opportunity to go through the pilot plant processing and learned the standard operating procedures (SOP) required to synthesize new drug moiety at an economical price.
The units are equipped with air handling units (AHU), dehumidification unit and dust extraction systems. The power supply to the critical systems is backed up by DG set supply to maintain required conditions. Ind – Swift has fully computerized quality control system for operation round the clock. The control of product quality during production is maintained by in-process quality test and quality audits. The quality assurance systems are supported by quality manuals, which were compiled as per cGMP collectives and guidelines.
The officer in charge further elaborated that the units qualify the international quality standards and were duly approved by number of international agencies. This industrial visit gave our students, a chance to have an overview of state-of-facilities. It was an educational tour, thus providing sufficient knowledge to the students regarding latest machinery and equipments used in a pharmaceutical production and R&D unit.

| National Pharmacy Week |

"National Pharmacy Week" is celebrated amongst the pharmacy fraternity throughout the country during the third week of November. Swift School of Pharmacy, celebrated the week (November 16 to 22) in its campus at Ghaggar sarai, Rajpura. The theme for the Pharmacy Week this year was "ASK YOUR PHARMACIST: FOR SAFE USE OF PRESCRIPTION MEDICINES". A number of activities were undertaken during the week. Students and staff were actively involved in all the activities off and on the campus. To start with the activities, Group Discussion sessions were organized on the topics related to the theme of the Pharmacy week. Students distributed pamphlets among the public at Rajpura Chowk and made the common man aware about the main points regarding good health and right use of medicines. To commemorate the occasion, tree plantation was done in the campus by all the students and staff members and more than 20 saplings were planted. Further, indoor game competitions for carom, chess and table tennis were also organized. Students actively took part in Rangoli and Antaakshri competitions. On the concluding day, declamation contest was organized on the topics related to the theme. Mr. Anshu Gupta, Faculty member, addressed the students on the theme of the Pharmacy Week and enlightened the students about the role of pharmacist in safe use of medicines. This was followed by the "Prize Distribution Function". Dr. V. J. Dhar, Director of the institute briefed the audience about the basic purpose of celebrating Pharmacy Week and also gave an account of the various activities under taken during the week. Dr. G. Munjal, President SFRES was the Chief Guest and Mr. V. K. Dwivedi, CEO presided over the function. On this function about 15 prizes were given to the Winners of the various activities. Addressing to the students Dr. Munjal, emphasized the need for good quality education for Pharmacy students so as to meet the demands of the fast growing Pharmacy profession.

| SIX GENERATIONS UNDER ONE ROOF |
 Swift School of Pharmacy, Rajpura had organized a get together of six generations of Pharmacy Professionals from different parts of the country under one roof on 9th April, 2009. It was the first event in the history of Pharmacy profession, where six consequent generations of Pharmacy had interacted under one roof, with Prof.Vimala Devi, Professor Emeritus, Andhra University as head of the family, followed by Dr. V.J.Dhar, Director, Swift School of Pharmacy, Dr. A.K.Tiwary, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala, Mr.Anshu Gupta, Asstt. Professor, Swift School of Pharmacy, Mr. Damanpreet Singh, Lecturer, Swift School of Pharmacy and the students of Swift School of Pharmacy as the sixth generation.
The cream of the event was that all the generations were having teacher student relationship. Dr.G.Munjal, President, Swift Fundamental Research and Education Society presided over the function. On this occasion Prof. Vimala Devi enlightened the students on the topic “Present and Future Trends and Opportunities of Pharmaceutical Education”. She emphasized that Pharmacy profession is a selfless profession with wide horizons. She further emphasized that theoretical knowledge goes hand in hand with practical exposure, to which Dr.Munjal gave consent and said that students of Swift School of Pharmacy would be exposed to industrial exposure very soon. Dr. G.Munjal appreciated the efforts of Dr.V.J. Dhar, Director, Swift School of Pharmacy and was happy to see the eminent members in the field of pharmacy under one roof. It was indeed dream come true for Dr. Dhar to see all the six generations under one roof, as Dr. Dhar was planning to have such an event since so many years.
Dr. V. J. Dhar enthralled the audience by telling them about the importance of teacher student relationship by quoting the example of his association with his teacher, Dr. Vimla Devi for past 40 years. He further laid stress on the importance of imbibing the good qualities of the teacher as it play a major role in shaping the students carrier. Dr. A. K. Tiwary hoped to see all the students of Swift School of Pharmacy to be GATE qualified and he showed them the ways of achieving it. He also asked the students to be more practical oriented and not to have any inhibitions while approaching the teachers with their problems. Later Dr. G.Munjal felicitated Dr. Vimla Devi with a shawl and the guests with souvenir and wished to see more such events in future also. |
