Though India's nursing institutions are producing a large pool of nurses in the world but there is no denying the fact that there is a need to impart quality nursing education. The future of the country in the health sector lies in the quality of its nursing education and it should be directed towards creating a globally excellent nursing programme.

Academic Divisions

The different departments have been set up as per the requirements of the specialization areas.

The Director Principal of SION is the Head of Nursing Institution. The other members of the faculty have been allocated additional administrative and teaching responsibilities like training, admissions, examinations etc as per the need of the institution.

Academic Objectives

To create a quality learning institute with high efficacy in playing a role in Planning, Coordinating and Organizing health care services at all levels of health care, in enhancing Nursing profession thereby providing most dedicated and professionally qualified Nursing & supporting staff to the global health care industry and corporate hospitals.

Clinical Facility

The institute of nursing shall have a 120-150 bedded Hospital of its own for 50 annual intake in its B.Sc (Nursing) programme to be developed in 2 years period of time. In order to accommodate the students at the outset attachment has been obtained from Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala and Gian Sagar Hospital, Banur.

The proposed hospital at the SION will have the following facilities:

    Surgical 30
    Obst. & Gynaecology 30
    Pediatrics 20
    Ortho 10
  2. - Other Specialities/Facilities for clinical experience:
  3. - Major OT Minor OT Community Health Nursing Cardiology Dental Oncology Eye/ENT Burns & Plastic Neurology/Neurosurgery Nephrology etc. ICU/ICCU Neonatology with Communicable disease Nursery
  4. - The Hospital give student status to the candidates of the nursing programme.
  5. - The hospital will be in the campus of nursing institution.
  6. - 1:3 student patient ratio will be maintained.
